Heaven's Reality Show . . .
  Nathan Naversen

A lot of us are addicted to reality shows like Survivor, and Big Brother. In a reality show, a camera is ever present to see even the best (and worst) details of people's lives as they compete for fame and a prize.

Now suppose I told you we could take a camera man into the throne room of God himself. to look God in the face and see what he was like. Would you tune into that program? Would you want to do it?

Well, today, we get just such an opportunity. Our "camera man" is a scribe armed with the most advanced piece of writing equipment in the world (a pen) and our contestant is a man by the name of Isaiah who is about to go into the throne room of God. You'll get to see first hand just what's inside God's kingly chambers, and you'll see Isaiah's reaction when he gets in there. Heavy.

Are you ready? Get ready, because you're about to follow Isaiah inside the throne of God. Lights, camera, action..

Isaiah 6:1-7 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory." At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.

"Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty." Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for."

I don't know if these words convey how intense that scene really was, but Isaiah's reaction sure showed it. Here was quite possibly one of the most righteous men of all time, and his first realization was of how sinful he felt in front of a perfect God. And God's first reaction was to have an Angel touch his lips (with a heavenly kiss?) to make him clean.

Something to apply to your life today: In your life do you ever feel like you are unclean and unworthy to be in the presence of God? Do you ever stay out of church, or keep your bible closed because you don't feel worthy to be near God? We have good news for you: Colossians 1:21: "Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation-"

Christ made you clean just like Isaiah because he loves you, and knows that you can't live up to perfection. Today, remember that you have forgiveness for every bad thing you've ever done through Christ Jesus.

Oh.. and for those of you who'd like to see next season's reality show: Check out Revelation 22:1-6 where YOU will get to see God face to face just like Isaiah.
