Does anyone know where I could find information about the ride system for Spiderman at Islands of Adventure? I’m trying to find a description of how the cars are maneouvered around the space and how simulation effects such as the long drop at the end are achieved. Any article, regardless of the level of technical knowledge required to understand it, would be great, especially as Google is being less than forthcoming for me on this one.
if you go to the park and go on the ride, when you exit ask to speak with the ride manager and explain why you are wanting to learn about the ride. if it is for professional reasons such as research for a company they will take you into the room with the cameras that watch the ride and explain how it works. however this worked for me, it may not work for everyone…i guess it depends on who is working. but its worth a shot.
the ride is just like the cat in the hat ride, it runs on a track, and has a moving top much like a simulator.
ITEC Productions did the show control for this ride.. I was with the company when it was a project of ours. The technical terms for any ride system like this is that the ride vehicle sits on what’s known as a “motion base”.
Wow, I would never have thought to ask to see behind the scenes. Unfortunately, I can’t get to IoA any time soon, but I will bear it in mind!
Thanks Nate. It must have been fun pulling together all the elements of this ride.
