Hellloooo Theme Park Peeps,

My name's Matt, I'm from sunny Southern California, in bubbled suburbia known as the San Fernando Valley -- anyone remember "Earth Girls Are Easy" or "Fast time at Ridgemont High"??

I'm a couple years out of USC with some creative writing and film under my belt. Got into theme park design when the harsh realities of puberty kicked in and my bedroom desk became my safe-haven. That spiraled into film production, which led to writing/directing for music videos, commercials, etc. -- but the one discipline that really gets my heart ticking is theme park design. An aspiring show-writer, I'm re-stepping my past and engaging new paths, looking for an in, entrée or even a casual phone conversation about the wonderful world of theme park design.

Really looking forward to being part of this community,

Matt

Matt,

Glad you're here. If you're into theme park design, L.A. is definitely one of the hotspots in the world to be. You're in a great location and you'll have the added bonus of being able to go back and forth from film to theme park rides. I hope you chime in on the boards regularly. We need that California perspective!

Nate

Welcome
I've been learning about show writing myself. There is much info and help here. I've also found samples from the shows over at

http://uabmagic.com

where there is 24/7 Disney park music, with links to scripts/lyrics. I listen to it while I work on my writing or am on the boards here.
Another great source is TEA (formerly known as Themed Entertainment Association) and their monthly mixers for meeting people.
