Its seems the head of the attactions group is the one holding back WDI, his back ground is in retail. I'm in the Engineering field, and I've seen where non engineering/creative types are brought in to manage cost, only to cause more problems. Its a shame that WDI couldn't be left independent. They seemed to lose alot of talented and creative people. The attactions group should focus on operating the parks, but having a seperate group to take care of the creative process seemed to work. Maybe this was done because of reported delayed openings and cost overruns, pretaining to Disney Cruise Ships, Test Track, and Rocket Rods. The change in WDI is a surprise considering how Eisner was a big supporter. Was Eisner really involved with WDI on a daily basis, and do you think he will resume his daily involvment with WDI now that DCA is having attendence problems? hopefully WDI will get back on track!

In the case of DCA, I heard that Pressler and Eisner
were very involved and that now Eisner is saying in the
press that he will be more creatively involved than
before (New York Times, see headlines laughingplace.com
) So i would imagine that he wants to control more of
the creative process himself, or at least be in touch
with it, even in the movies.

I hope that helps balance it all out, but we'll have to
wait and see.

Your observations on the balance of power at WDI are
correct and it's all pretty "safe" out there right now.
