Well, this is an interesting one I hadn't seen before. A local teen (or just out of his teen years) is trying to organize a grassroots effort to re-open the old Joyland park.

Definitely an interesting concept he's working on. I'm going to have to dig into the website further, and see what he's got planned. Might be some opportunities in there for volunteer experience and such.

This reminds me of the Save Dreamland thing that's been ongoing in the UK for years. Check that out... The plans are to renovate classic attractions and open a heritage theme park and museum. It sounds amazing, I hope they, and this guy with Joyland, get somehwere with it.

It doesn't look like much progress on the surface for this one, but behind the scenes the articles I'm seeing are looking a bit more hopeful. There was a small blurb in Funworld last issue that I saw, and a recent news article I read was saying that they achieved their Not For Profit status, which opens up the ability to accept more grants and donations than in the past.

I have to really hand it to the guy that's heading this. He's 18 years old now, and really organizing this thing far beyond a mere concept. Everything looks like they're very serious, and making an honest effort at putting it together.

I e-mailed Alex about a couple of ideas I'd like to contribute, and he seemed pretty receptive to them. So I may have some work to do, on a volunteer basis of course.
