I have made up a ride called Choluga (ch-u-lug-u) . It would be a twisting roaller coaster!!! First you would drop 50 feet down underground! Then you wou go straight for 5 seconds ango straight up while you are twisting!!! Then strong magnets would make you go 45 M.P.H. going down while twisting!!!!!! Then you would do 16 courkscrews in a row. Then you would do 18 helixes and you would all of a sudden stop! You would wait 4and a half seconds and then air would shoot you 67 M.P.H.. You would again go straight up but this time, you would go down through the helixes! Then you would go back to the station and the ride would be over.

I geuss that there would be people that would see if any people did puke! If there was, those people would push a button and the car would be sent over to a cleaning patrol. If no puke was found, the car would be sent back to the loading dock.Of course, there would at least 50 of my estimate!

Well... way back in the early 1900's, one of the first innovators of roller coasters had to install a nurse's station at the end of the coaster... so given the history of the industry, maybe just-inverted will be the next to totally re-invent the way we do rides... Very Happy

This brings to mind - I know there are resoruces for human tolerances, limits, etc.. and guidelines for ride spaces and gaps between scenes and vehicles etc...

Where does one find all that information? I've heard of the books or publication, but never really heard of them being actually specified - like which books? Anyone know..?

Not sure, but I can tell you this:

Roller coasters are rarely designed to pull more than 3.0 G's because otherwise a large segment of the population (like 1 percent) would get motion sickness and have a hard time with the ride. Beyond that, most high performance steel coasters are rarely designed to last over 1.5 minutes.

Motion simulators rarely last more than 4 minutes. Mission space falls in this category as well. Motion sickness kicks in for almost everyone after that time threshhold.

I'm sure there's more to know about this stuff. I'll have to ask around with some of the gurus I know. I'm sure there's a resource somewhere...

Nate
