So I just saw on TEA's website that they have some information for SATE this September in Orlando. I am wanting to attend this year, it seems like its a good conference and you get to work in groups to develop a concept and meet alot of new faces. Does anyone else plan on attending? Did anyone go last year?

I''ve never been, but I'm planning on going this year.

Thinking I'll stay in town for the weekend and enjoy the parks.

Looks like not only will there be some interesting classes, but also hopefully will be a great way to meet others in the industry.

I wonder what the turn-out for these things normally is?

There is a user on here with the name of wokcreative, and I think he attended last year. I might send him a PM to see if he is going again. Jason are you on the east or west coast?

I'm working in San Francisco at the moment, but I head back to the east coast to finish my Master's Thesis in August.

Sorry, I've been away from the boards for a while. I'll post my report for last year very soon. It is a great thing and highly recommended.

More soon...

I'd love to go. I just can justify to myself (or my significant other) to spend that much money. I have to do my learnin' on a shoestring. A shoestring that's been tied back together a couple of times.

Some new information has been posted to TEA's website: http://themeit.com/sate.htm

including biographies of the presenters and some more about the topics covered.

Workcreative-- I'd still love to hear about your thoughts on the conference if you have a chance.

Yeah I saw that yesterday that they posted new information. Sounds like they have a good lineup of speakers, I know ive heard Bob Rogers before and hes such a talented individual and his company has done some amazing projects. So it looks to be one of those events not to be missed. I am going to get my tickets soon (hopefully my company will take care of the bill! haha) Its going to be held at motions dance club at DTD and its amazing to think that just 9 or 10 days after they will start to demolish all that, but that is another topic in itself.

I'm very close to booking this as well. I'm a student member of TEA, so $318 isn't terrible, but it's enough that I'm tempted to hold off until a full schedule is posted.

KingslyZISSOU-- I think I know you from the WDWMagic boards which I visit occassionally, I'm CMU-Lighting over there.

I really am thinking of going.

I can get a student membership set up pretty easily right? (I'm going off memory, will probably check it out thoroughly - but if you're so inclined to fill me in..)

I always feel out of my league dealing with these things, but at some point I suppose I need to just do it!

Maybe I can convince some of my other conference-going friends that it'd be worthwhile.

You fill out a form online and send a scan of your current student ID-- it's a fairly straightforward process, and TEA is relatively quick about processing them.

Student TEA registration is $50 and you save $80 for SATE registration, so you still come out ahead.

I guess i'm not sure how to handle the "references" section. It seems you need to reference two TEA companies..? At first I thought it referred to schools or individuals for an academic account, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I suppose an email to "Brian" is in order?

I am planning to go to the mixer. My real name is not Holly though... Look for a girl in her late-20's who works for Nickelodeon, with the same first and last initials (no one else has double initials at my company). I look forward to meeting some of ya'll in person! Very Happy

Hey, just noticed this thread at the top and figured i'd let you folks know I'm unlikely to make it - though I really really want to.

I got put on a show with pretty much zero notice and it has to open the first week of November. Running around like a chicken with my head cut off getting the design finished and to the shop in time.

If a miracle happens and i can get away, i'll you guys know Smile

Did anyone make the mixer?

It was so crowded that it ws hard to find anyone... Apparently the mixers are usually a little less... crazy! I met some cool people, but I missed meeting any of the forum crew. If you made it to the mixer, how did you like it?
