The following project consists of overall plans for an immersive museum along with several 3D renders of select rooms in the experience.
DADA! An Interactive Exhibit
Experience Absolute Nonsense
Explore the meaningless and absurd at DADA!, an interactive exhibit that takes you through the history of Dadaist art. Engage with immersive installations as you learn about the movement’s origins, key figures, and infamous works. DADA! will have you questioning your preconceived notions of what art is and how you can use your own creativity (or absurdity) to change the world around you.
DADA! has a total of twelve rooms for guests to experience during their journey. Each room teaches guests about a specific moment in the history of Dada art, from its WWI origins to its explosion around the world. And of course, like any good attraction, guests will end their experience in the gift shop, where they can purchase DADA! brand goods.

Lobby and Ticketing
Inspired by Dadaism’s geometric shapes and raw approach to design, guests start this experience with an introduction to the iconic Dada collage style. Eye motifs and dissected forms act as an homage to common themes in Dada art. Here, guests can purchase or pick up tickets and enter the DADA! experience.
Entrance Hallway
Entering through the hole in the collage wall, guests find themselves in a backlit hallway. Here, they are introduced to the four fundamental principles of the Dadaist art movement: nonsense, play, provocation, and anti-art.
What is Dada?
This introductory room further explores the meaning and core themes of Dada. An interactive installation in the center of the room, designed to resemble Duchamp’s Bicycle Wheel readymade, allows guests to take a spin and learn about different works through changing projected graphics. Additionally, guests can snap a photo in front of the poster wall or the ever-changing Dada mobile.
War Ruins and Swiss House
Traveling back to the chaotic turmoil of WWI, guests will learn about the horrors that initially caused artists to flee to neutral Switzerland, where the Dada movement would be born. Unnerving graphics of soldiers line the war ruins, encouraging the unending violence. At the end of the room, the Swiss house glows as a beacon of salvation.
Cabaret
Guests will enter a re-imagined version of the exciting Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich, a haven for Dada artists at the time. Showcasing the performance, spoken word, and sound side of Dada art, this room pays homage to the often forgotten, but no less important, works of Dada art. Guests are able to make their way on stage and use the microphone to create their own nonsense.
The Fountain
Arguably the most famous work of Dada art, Duchamp’s “The Fountain” displays the epitome of the absurd, shocking, and avant-garde. This room challenges guests to question what can truly be considered art and why. Graffiti on the wall details the piece’s history and importance to the Dada movement, all while the giant urinal structure towers over guests. The only way for guests to progress forward is to be flushed away themselves by stepping through the drain.
Gift Shop
Merchandise is available as guests exit the exhibit, giving them a chance to bring a piece of Dada home with them. A variety of clothing, souvenirs, and home art pieces can be purchased.
