Project : Elmo’s Barn
Park : Studio 9 – (Elstree,UK)
Elmo’s barn is a musical/ride presentation, journey through a farmyward run by a set of anthropomorphic cats…
The inspiration for this was surprisingly Bluegrass music, I am not sure what people’s thought are on trying to build a ride from a musicl idea but some of the themeing and gag ideas I had for this ride
were coming straight from humorous cartoon animation.
I’ve put the lyrics which are based on the ride music below ,the ride music is nominally continuous , but is re-triggered or update at appropriate points… (Nate or others can probably hint at how you do semi-dynamic ride music from a technical perspective, I’m trying to write story here.)
The Ballad of Elmo the Cat..
Way out on the western plains
There was a farm, ma and sons
and with one of the sons ma dis-paired
cause all Day Elmo played… on the Banjo!! Oh-Oh…
Now Elmo was something of a crazy cat
And playing banjo he thought was where it was at.
Each day he sat an strummed and thought
All day playin away ….. On The Banjo..
All the time he was playin away.
not keeping out the ‘guests’ that had come to stay
The mice they grew and grew.
And all Day Elmo played… On the Banjo!! Oh! Oh my…
The mice loved him and saw thier chance
away with the grain store thy did prance
and whilst ma and sons tried to cope
All Day Elmo played … On the Banjo!! Oh-Oh.
The mice it seems did not want trouble
but still carted off the grain by the double.
It wasn’t known what the grain was for but
All Day Elmo played… just played … On Th Banjo.!! Oh-Oh
Now to ma this got on her back,
and one day told Elmo Get rid of the mice or pack your sack,
Now Elmo thought and thought some more as he sat
and all Day played …. On the Banjo!! Oh-no!
It was the late the following night,
when up from the barn cam an almighty din
the music playin as the the mice came in.
Elmo sat there and played .. On the Banjo.. Oh! Oh!(Smile)
Along with the din was a hazy cloud
from the rodent’s still ,bubbling aloud
And as the grain to moonshine turned
Elmo just continued to play,… On The Banjo … Oh! Oh my!
The sign outside read Elmos Barn Come right along
with the mice responding to Elmo’s Song.
They danced and they drank and danced some more
As Elmo sat strumming away… On the Banjo..
Then in the morning the mice were gone and Elmo too
No Paws in the dirt, nor shapes in the dew.
And yet from the over the hills , sound faintly came
of Elmo , Yes Elmo Playing … On the Banjo..
Today this day he hasn’t been found
but niether have the mice from in or out of town.
Some say he’s dead some say he’e gone
but Elmo, Well Elmo, He Plays on!…
I still can’t the ballad tune out of my head
