Over the arc of my 25+ year career, I've had the distinct pleasure of working on some of the most unique of themed entertainment offerings. It started on stage, as a lead performer in multiple national and international tours of Broadway shows. But early on, I realized how much I enjoyed the creative process and rehearsals so much more than being on stage. The collaboration between the many artistic disciplines, and leading that charge, is,by far the undertaking that brings me the most joy.
For a good portion of my career, I was based in NYC where I began directing musical theatre and stage plays, developing my skills to award winning acclaim. This recogniition garnered other opportunities that began to expand my horizons beyond just the stage. I was afforded the chance to expand into live events, both for pure live entertainment as well as experiential marketing. From working with icons in the industry as Vanessa Williams, Placido Domingo, and the Alvin Ailey Company on major gala performances to creating unique gorilla marketing performance across NYC and the US for today's top brands, I've learned many lessons regarding new ways to reach an audience with your story.
Prior to moving to Orlando and begininng my work with Disney, I was the Creative Director and Executive Producer of the NFL Experience Times Square, a multi-level story driven interactive attraction in the heart of NYC and based on the great game of football. Implementing the most cutting edge technology we created a unique experience for every person attending, whether you were a major fan of the game, or merely someone who had no affinity for football at all. But my role as Creative Director also entailed ensuring all of the marketing initiatives and collateral matched the story driven nature of the attraction itself. From writing radio and tv commercials, to the design of tickets and handouts, the creative was a cohesive narrative. In 2018, I successful negotiated a move to bring the NFL Network's hit morning show Good Morning Football to our venue as their full time studio for a season. They shot every weekday morning from a show set that I had the pleasure of collaborating on with the NFL Network's top creative talent and scenic deisgin team.
The many blessing of jobs I've had over the years, has brought me to my current role as Show Director for Disney Parks Live Entertainment. My area of focus in on Sports, runDisney, Disney Springs, and a few stage shows in Disney's Hollywood Studios. It's a role that uniquely fits me and my passion for story driven entertainment in the realms of theatre, attractions, sports, and marketing. Through this work I've also had the pleasure of working as a creative consultant on projects for outside companies such as the NBA's New Orleans Pelicans. But make no mistake, no matter the experience I have or work I've done, it's the collaboration process with a full creative team that truly accomplishes greatness. For no one person can do it alone...and nor should they. I love the fact that we can celebrate and lift up the gifts of so many talented artists in this industry. Art Director, Sound Designeers, Lighting, FX, the list goes on...it's the collective that works together under a strong vision who will see their story impact the lives of an audience.
