From 1999 - 2001, Kris studied traditional, hand-drawn character animation at (then) Freelance Animation School, in Auckland, New Zealand. There, I learned character animation and design, from classical principles, under a veteran Disney animator, John Ewing (The Jungle Book).
Following my studies, I worked in studios, in New Zealand and Germany, for animated TV series ‘bro’Town’ (Firehouse Films), ‘Staines down Drains’ (Flux Studios), and Cartoon Network series 'The Amazing World of Gumball' (Studio Soi).
In 2012 I emigrated to Germany to work in TV animation. In 2017 I transitioned to freelance design and live-action filmmaking. I worked for Filmakadamie Baden-Württemberg in several capacities including storyboarding and VFX set supervision.
In 2018 I began designing for Europa Park, Germany's premiere theme park and their Water Park, Rulantica, in many areas including attractions, merchandise, media and more.
In 2022, while in New Zealand, I shot 'YARGH!', a self-financed pirate adventure-comedy short film for children that I wrote, directed, and produced, among other roles. The film will premiere in 2024 in festivals.
