What if the greatest works of all time came to life? What if the greatest stories ever told could be lived? Welcome to Domanivm—a legendary theme park where your favorite [public domain] characters come to life! Wanna explore 19th-century London while solving a mystery with Sherlock Holmes? Wanna discover dinosaurs within a deep Amazon jungle? Or how about reliving Latin classics? It’s all possible in Domanivm.
Site Selection
It all began with a simple thought: What if the greatest epics ever written could come to life? As an architecture student, I wanted to explore how space could go beyond drafting—to actually become the story. Though purely hypothetical (as this is 100% my idea not related to any corporation), I chose a site in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, for its diverse landscapes and cultural richness—an ideal stage for epic tales to be reborn.
Entrance Plaza: Spiracus
To create a proper backstory to this park, I imagined this entrance main street like an area that opens up to a spring that grows into the main water feature that works to benefit guest circulation. The legend of this ancient place is that medieval monks compiled the most important works of literature all into this fantastical abbey. Now they invite us in to explore and uncover these works ourselves…
Dom Quichote Kingdom
On the right side of the park, there is this Spanish-inspired themed area, with a major D-ticket dark ride retelling the story of the would-be knight, Dom Quichote.
Explore the empire where the sun never sets. Divided into two smaller districts: Medieval England and 19th-century England. The first features a large Shakespearian theater retelling classic stories like Hamlet to a live audience. The latter features a Sherlock Holmes shooter dark ride housed within a recreated façade of the British Museum. The story of the ride is that Moriarty stole the Jewel of Solomon—a powerful stone from South Africa (this is what we call foreshadowing, kids). Sherlock is trying to prevent Moriarty from conquering the world.
Classicvm
Imagine an old forgotten kingdom that still lives as if it’s the 4th century. Here we find the main focal point of the park: a large lighthouse modeled after the one in Alexandria, symbolizing the power of classic works of literature. On one side we have an indoor boat ride about Homer’s Odyssey, housed within a nondescript mountain façade. At the center, we have the Cicero Forvm—an homage to Marcus Tullius Cicero, housing an Audio-Animatronic show. Next to that is perhaps the park’s most spectacular show: Dante’s Inferno. Imagine experiencing Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven—all in a cirque-style show with acrobatics and special effects…
A world inspired by the book King Solomon’s Mines by H. Rider Haggard (that would later inspire a certain fedora-spawning adventurer). Here we find a high-thrill family roller coaster that takes place in the namesake mines, where we search for the Solomon Jewel (oh, I understood that reference). Join Allan Quatermain in a South African-style boom gold mine town, combining real history and fantastical elements brought about by H. Rider Haggard’s book.
Lost World
Welcome to Lost World—a hidden prehistoric kingdom within the Amazon forest based on the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle novel from 1912. Explore a rapids river expedition where you come face to face with this hidden world… culminating in a thrilling finale where pterodactyls try to attack our boats before falling down a massive 30 ft tall drop…
There is also a gold rush town in the style of colonial Cuiabá or Ouro Preto where you can eat some Pão de Queijo.
In the park layout, we find two islands on each side of the lake, allowing for a more dynamic layout: Moby Dick’s Village: Journey to a New England village and uncover this story of revenge from a captain after a whale he will never catch (until now). In terms of program, this area works like the park’s kids’ area with a flat ride and junior coaster; Scheherazade Bazaar: Step into Scheherazade Bazaar, a dazzling crossroads of myth and marvel where storytellers spin golden tales and spices ride the desert wind. Inspired by the legendary world of One Thousand and One Nights, this richly themed land evokes an ancient port city where merchants, adventurers, and dreamers from across the world gather to trade stories, treasures, and flavors. At the heart of the bazaar is The Talespinner Carousel, a beautifully hand-crafted ride where jeweled camels, flying carpets, and mythical beasts spin beneath a starlit dome—each figure a tribute to Scheherazade’s most enchanting tales.
Domanivm was born from a simple idea: what if the greatest stories ever told could be lived? As an architecture student, I wanted to design a park where guests don’t just watch or read—they step into the worlds of public domain legends. From Sherlock’s London to Homer’s seas, from dusty classics to forgotten gems, Domanivm turns timeless tales into unforgettable experiences. It’s a park built on story, wonder, and the belief that great literature still has the power to thrill, inspire, and entertain.
