Searching for Bigfoot: The Ride Experience
As I embark on my final semester as an MBA student, I find myself reflecting on my journey in the program–especially my favorite elective, Project Management! For our final project, we were tasked with developing a detailed project plan for any idea of our choosing. Without hesitation, I knew I wanted to plan for a new attraction.
At the 2024 IAAPA Expo, I was captivated by Axtell Expressions’ massive animatronic Bigfoot (pictured below), affectionately named Bob. The lifelike creature sparked my creativity, inspiring me to conceptualize a thrilling ride centered around a search for Bigfoot.
Bringing my vision to life, I developed a comprehensive project charter outlining the project overview, opportunity statement, justification and impact, constraints and assumptions, project scope, and project organization. I then created a work breakdown structure detailing the development plan. Finally, I formulated a risk management plan covering risk identification, risk assessment, and risk response strategies. This project also deepened my understanding of industry standards, as I researched and applied ADA Accessibility Guidelines and ASTM International F24 Committee regulations.
