Theme Park Description
The objective of the theme park is to promote the different varieties of fresh produce that are developed by FloraLabs, an innovative, multinational producer and distributor that seeks to improve plant varieties. Each season, FloraLabs develops another set of seasonal plants to excite consumers and give them a taste of something new, such as yellow strawberries that are not found anywhere else around the world! This theme park seeks to educate consumers about the process of creating these crops, and give them an insight as to what goes into the crops that they consume from FloraLabs.

Introduction
Welcome to the Mintfolia Championship!
Here at FloraLabs, we aspire to grow the tallest, most magnificent plants with natural ingredients. With every seasonal change, we bring about different species of plants that can be enjoyed by you!
We want you to experience the luxurious environment that we provide all of our flora and fauna, and so we invite you to embark on a journey as Mentha Mintfolia, our new species of Mint that we have just developed recently. Experience how our special crops are grown with the best care, with “au naturale” ingredients that Mother Earth provides!

Storyboard

Prologue (Queue)
“Mentha Mintfolia” is our newly developed species of mint, derived from mint plants of the past. We developed it to grow taller and stronger, in order to enhance the health properties of the plant. Common uses of mint include additions to dishes to provide fragrance, and it has properties to improve your digestive health, immune system and more. “Mentha Mintfolia” requires water, wind and sunlight to grow. Through photosynthesis, the plant is then able to convert the sunlight into food for growth, growing bigger and taller than previous varieties of mint have ever done. We would like you to experience firsthand how water, wind and sunlight affects the growth of “Mentha Mintfolia” and so put on your Mintfolia sapling gloves and come along with us on a ride to discover new heights. Let’s see who can become the strongest and tallest Mintfolia of all!

In Game Commands
Stage 1: Please pick your flower pots. As you plant yourself into the pots, the timer will then begin. Mother nature will start to provide an abundance of natural resources for you to collect. In order to grow, you will need to reach for the corresponding spots to collect the resource. Collect the resources by putting your sapling gloves in the spots, where you can then absorb the nutrients and grow!
For guests with disabilities, please seek assistance from our staff, who will open the pot for you to enter instead.
Now, ready yourselves for an adventure as you grow as Mentha Mintfolia, attaining new heights never seen before!

Stage 2:
[Wall Projection: Dark]
“We finally finished our Mentha Mintfolia! I can’t wait to see how fast they grow. Let’s test them out!”
“That sounds great! Time to put them out in the sun”
[Wall Projection: Under a glass case, walking in the background]
[Wall Projection: Glass case is removed and sunlight comes in]
[Music starts playing]
[Sunlight spots flash around the pot]
[With every successful collection, flower pot rises slightly and projection of roots on the floor increase]

Stage 3:
“It looks like our Mentha Mintfolia are growing well, let’s give them some water and keep them hydrated!”
[Wall Projection: Flowing water]
[Music starts playing]
[LED lights up blue acrylic in spots around the pot]
[With every successful collection, flower pot rises slightly and projection of roots on the floor increase]
Stage 4:
“To help with transpiration, let’s give some wind to our Mentha Mintfolia!”
[Wall Projection: Wind Gusts]
[Music starts playing]
[Fan in spots draw air in and create a wind effect, a ribbon at each spot rises and fall to signal the location of the wind’
[With every successful collection, flower pot rises slightly and projection of roots on the floor increase]
Stage 5:
“Now you have got the hang of it, but the weather can get quite unpredictable. Let’s see which Mintfolia can grow the tallest! Best of luck!”
[Music starts playing according to resource given at random]
[Resource spots activate as per resource given]
[With every successful collection, flower pot rises slightly and projection of roots on the floor increase]

Conclusion:
“Wow great job everyone! I have never expected our Mintfolia to grow as much as they did. Well done! Let’s grow some more so that we can share this magnificent plant with everyone!
[Pot lowers and guests are allowed to walk out of the play zone. ]
[Guests leave]
Epilogue:
Congratulations everyone! Please leave your Mintfolia saplings in the boxes provided. Check out who was the strongest Mintfolia! Was it you? We hope you have learnt more about what goes into our Mentha Mintfolia. Do check out the other exhibits around as well and we hope to see you again! Goodbye!
Technology Involved

Diagram above shows the exploded view of the attraction mechanism.
The working mechanism behind the pot is a screw thread mechanism. It converts the rotational movement of the gear into an upward linear motion. I have chosen it ahead of other mechanisms due to its low cost of maintenance and low usage of space.

To elaborate on the sensors used in the slots, NFC technology is used where NFC tags is located on the sapling gloves, and NFC readers located in the plant pot. When the storyline requests for a particular resource, the reader will look for a specific NFC tag. For example when water is requested, the NFC reader will identify that the tag attached to the root of the sapling is to be detected for the command to pass. The reader sens signal to the gears to rotate and the plot moves upward. The NFC reader is placed on the pot to allow for faster communication speeds between the hardware used, allowing for a positive feedback loop that is more responsive to the user’s commands.
To simulate how the plant absorbs water, light shined through acrylic is used to mimic water instead of using actual water to allow for ease of maintenance and ensure that no electronics are in danger of being affected by water.
To simulate sunlight, a spotlight used to mimic the sun was initially considered, However taking into account that the intensity of the light might then need to be high, it might negatively impact guests’ eyes. Thus, ring lights are used instead.
